Because of an obvious lack of definition in the bass range within the control room, Arturo Vaquero, owner of the Abrigueiro Studios, requested a revision of the acoustics in his recording facilities. Initial measurements pointed to an inappropriate distribution of the eigenmodes in the mid-bass region. A realized BEM simulation confirmed the reason to be disadvantageous proportions of the rooms primary structure and missing damping in the bass area. The acquired solution to the problem consisted of implementing some large-scale membrane absorber systems, tuned to the problematic frequency range.
